According to Vedic Astrology, when the planet Mars is located in certain houses of the horoscope, it casts malefic influences on various aspects of that person. A person having such an afflicted Mars status is known as a Manglik. This condition is also called the Kuja Dosha or the Bhauma Dosha. Western Astrology also recognizes the ill effects of Mars afflictions on marriages.

Kuja Dosha is a strong regulator of marital harmony. This affliction gets canceled, according to Sage Parashara, only if the spouse also has a similar affliction i.e. if the spouse is also a Manglik. If both partners in a marriage are Manglik the Mars Dosha does not become operative for either partner.

However, when a marriage is solemnized without consulting the charts and one of the spouses is a Manglik, the marriage can become rather terrifying and nerve wrecking for both partners since they would not be able to pin-point the reason for the malaise in the relationship and factors affecting it. Even in countries like India, when marriages are arranged, sometimes it is only the traditional 36-point match making compatibility is compared without analyzing for the existence of this Dosha.

Mars is a wrecker of marriages. The amount of damage Mars can create also depends on other factors like the strength of the 7th House Lord (the ruler of marriage),occupation of good or bad planets in the 7th house or their benefic or malefic aspects, the strength of the planet giving longevity to the spouse amongst other things. A full analysis of your chart will give these details. Check the Manglik status of your chart or the concerned person’s Natal Chart and if it exists then find out the way to neutralize its ill effect.
